A Babysitting Course will take place on August 29th from 9:00AM – 3:00PM that provides hands-on training and includes First Aid, CPR and AED training as well as the Heimlich Maneuver used for choking patients.Participants will learn how to feed, diaper and care for infants and young children, communicate effectively with children and parents, offer age appropriate games, recognize safety issues and learn how to respond in emergency situations. This 6 hour course is designed for youth ages 12 years and older. Participants who complete the course will receive a two year certification for the American Heart Association HeartSaver First Aid, CPR & AED training and will learn and practice performing the Heimlich Maneuver in addition to bandaging and basic first aid skills. Each participant will also learn how to start their own babysitting business, build a babysitting resume’ and will go through an interview process to be part of the on-line Children’s Safety Village Babysitter Referral Program which will give information about each babysitter including age, area they live in or are willing to travel to, whether they are able to drive or need transportation, years of experience, etc. This site will also act as advertising for the youth who have participated in and qualified to be part of our referral service which is a great benefit to taking the course.
